Welcome to Duncan Witt CPA Group, PLLC!
We are a firm founded on the philosophy that accountants should provide more than just retrospective numbers.
We know that you need peace of mind and freedom from stress, but you wear many hats and may be pulled in many directions. We provide you with the tools you need to make real-time decisions about your business success and actions to help you get there. We can even give you back your time by taking bookkeeping and tax worries off your plate!
At Duncan Witt, we strive to earn your trust and appreciation. Our goal is to leave you feeling better about your financial and tax situation, with more clarity than before you talked to us. We accomplish this through anticipation of your points of financial fear and pain and proactively addressing them with you; through responsive and regular communication; and through coaching in understanding and using your financial measurements to turbocharge your success!
Few things change faster than technology! We continually evaluate new and existing technological tools to find the best solutions for both our clients and ourselves. This allows us to provide more financial tools and access to you, while giving you the comfort of knowing your information is secure. Also, communication is paramount to peace of mind, so we implement current technology to ensure that even the most tech-savvy entrepreneurs can communicate with us in the ways they prefer.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXCELLENCE
Just as we love to educate our clients to better use the tools we give them, we have also cultivated a learning environment within the firm. This supports our clients’ confidence that we have the most current knowledge of their industry’s accounting standards and tax reduction strategies, and that we will continue to find more ways to benefit them as time goes on.
Everyone needs support at some time in their lives, whether emotional, financial, time, or other support. Duncan Witt CPAs have several causes that they are passionate about, giving both time and resources to benefit those who may not have access to the kind of care, opportunities, or resources they need.
Here at Duncan Witt CPA Group, PLLC, we understand that finances are personal. And they can be stressful for any number of reasons. We work hard to make sure that your finances are not scary or unknown, so that you can focus on what you are passionate about.Email Duncan Witt CPA Group
L. Brooke Witt | CPA
Brooke Witt, CPA, grew up in an entrepreneurial family, working in remodeling, land development/construction and rental management. She eventually became controller of the family business, handling tax matters and HR, while sending projects out for bid, writing sales contracts, preparing bank pro forma and working in all aspects of the development/construction/contractor industries. She developed a knowledge of loans and underwriting which led to her being hired away into the lending industry when interest rates spiked and construction stalled, where she worked as small business advocate, packaging loan applications in their best light for underwriting review. A CPA firm recommended her to a troubled manufacturing firm, where under her cash flow management their high lines of credit were paid off while weathering the industry downturn that followed 9/11. Realizing that helping multiple businesses was most satisfying, Brooke made the decision to go into public accounting and joined the staff of local firm Carter & Company, followed by Bettinger Mifflin Rich CPA Group. Through these companies she increased her considerable background in tax issues involving small businesses and closely held companies: partnerships, C and S-corporations, LLCs and sole proprietorships, as well as trusts and estates. From her years as controller in private industry, Brooke has the ability to see the client’s business from the inside, understanding that the numbers tell a story that the business owner can profit by reading, but that numbers are only part of a larger company picture. She also fully “gets” the many hats that most small business owners wear, and recognizes that they need stress taken away, not added.
Brooke has also been a performer in Seattle area cover-band BrickHouse Show Band, and a member of the National Association of Catering Executives as well as the International Live Events Association for years, and is familiar with accounting, tax and other business issues of the creative and restaurant community. She has a number of creatives as clients.
Brooke’s sisters are successfully active in the home-based business scene. Brooke is a tax consultant and preparer for members of their organizations, in addition to others.
Memberships: Washington Society of CPAs, Seattle-King County Master Builders Association, Washington Association of Accounting and Tax Professionals, Columbia Tower Club, WSU Alumni Association, Mensa and the Washington Women’s Foundation.
Brittany Duncan| CPA
Brittany Duncan, CPA, fell in love with accounting on Take Your Daughter to Work Day in middle school, when she went to work with her mom and was excited to actually do some of her work. In high school, her aunt decided quickly that she should handle all things number-related for her grandfather’s company, which grew into bookkeeping for multiple simultaneous renovation projects. She was also the go-to person there and among family for quickly figuring out technological queries and troubleshooting. Seeing both finances and technology as puzzles to be put together, Brittany dove fully into accounting and learning/troubleshooting new software. As an adult, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Central Washington University, and has been providing bookkeeping, tax, and accounting solutions to small businesses for over 15 years. During that time, she has been the person business owners call when they just don’t know what to do. She has worked in private industry – including contractors, custom retail stores, various service industries, and as the accounting manager of a casino in north Snohomish County – and public accounting & tax. She takes pride in earning your trust and giving you the information you need to run your business smoothly.
Brittany also knows first-hand the worlds of performing arts, sales, and home-based businesses, having performed on stage from 7 to 22 and grown up surrounded by entrepreneurs in real estate and network marketing.
When she’s not solving the world’s accounting puzzles, Brittany can be found reading mysteries, dancing at a Zumba studio, or spending time with her two amazingly energetic, artistic children.
Memberships: American Institute of CPAs, Washington Society of CPAs, Quickbooks ProAdvisor
Tell Me More
I hope you’ll forgive me for being blunt.
We are Brooke Witt and Brittany Duncan. We are CPAs and realize that you may not be used to seeing tax professionals talk like this. It’s not our intention to offend. We are actually being very careful with our words–we are tax professionals, after all.
But we think you’ll agree that the times we’re currently facing require a little straight talk.
Here’s a certain truth: the State and Federal Government would love to have more of your hard-earned money in their accounts. Sure, even though it’s painful, none of us begrudge paying our legal and fair share of taxes. But the problem is that regular taxpayers, like you, are missing out on legal and safe deductions, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed refunds every year!
As a tax professional, it truly breaks our heart, knowing that just a few thousand, or even a few hundred bucks for us “regular guys” out of that vast pool of overcharging could make a world of difference–and they are just sitting there, unclaimed! And with the economy we’re facing now…it’s essential that the “right” professional handles your taxes and other financial matters.
You see, all tax professionals are not the same. From the “discount” chains (notice the quotes) to classic accounting firms, most fly through tax season in a disorganized mess–bleary-eyed and hopped-up on caffeine. It’s no wonder that they treat you like a number and lapse into excuses and tax-talk. (We said we would be blunt.)
Feel free to poke around our site and discover why we’ve been called “The Most Trusted Tax Professionals in the Snohomish & King Counties Area.”
PS–Already ready to come in?
We don’t blame you…many folks are fed up with the other options out there. Our schedule is very full…but if you call us at (425) 501-9000 or Email Us, we’ll give you two options for coming in right away! We will NOT make dealing with a tax professional as painful as it’s been in the past!
Talk again soon,
